Adequate supervisor sitting in a car when law made it mandatory

The Parent's Supervised Driving

Adequate Supervisor is Mandatory

Based on the study made by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there are more than 350,000 U.S. young people or considered as teenagers with the age bracket of 15-19 years old were taken care in emergency departments due to injuries caused by car accidents in 2008. On the other hand, young people with the age bracket of 15-24 years old which are only 14% of the whole U.S. population are accountable for 28% of the overall rate of female engaged in road accidents and 30% among male.  Parents are accountable for the damage done by these teenage drivers since these young drivers are supposed to drive with the supervision of their parents or adequate supervisor to ensure that they drive safely.

There are three phases in terms of driver’s licensing according to driving school. Take for example in Illinois, teen drivers must pass these phases until such time that they will become fully unrestricted drivers. The first stage is the permit phase. In the permit phase, the driver is not allowed to go out and bring his car without an adequate supervisor with him. The second phase is called the initial licensing phase. Usually the driver belongs in the age bracket of 16-17 years old. As long as the teen has completed all the requirements he is considered in this second phase already.

The last and final phase is full licensing phase. In here the driver is already 18-20 years old. In permit and initial license, the driver is still subject to condition of curfew, proper training and education requirements.
To some states, parents are liable for the negligence of their children in terms of driving especially if the child is not yet fully licensed. But to Illinois’ set of law this is still subject to investigation. Like for example if the child drives without the parents knowing it then parents are not liable but if the child met an accident doing a family errand, then this is the time wherein parents are legally responsible for the wrongdoing of his child.  Some states have different set of traffic laws compared to another states, thus, will also follow that each state has different set of penalty as of traffic law.
The accountability of parents to his child’s wrongdoing is on a case-to-case basis. Thus, it is always a need to hire a traffic lawyer so that he can defend your side and not just accept the punishments that the court might impose. The examples of family errands are allowing a child to go to store to buy groceries without the aid of adequate supervisor with him or for an instance allowing your child to pick up his shoes in repair shop all by himself. Situations like these must be prevented since these would be subject to punishments and you parents are liable for these. Going to driving school is always an advantage since these reminders are always put into considerations.
